James Brian Smith - Founding Artistic Director
Began his formal training on the piano at age eight. By eleven, he held his first position as church organist. In high school, he studied organ and performed at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. In 1990, he graduated Northwestern University with three degrees: Church Music and Organ, Music Education, and Organ Performance. From 1988 to 2001, he was the director of music at St. Wenceslaus Parish where he founded a professional music staff consisting of cantors, the Schola Gregoriana, Cantores in Ecclesia as well as instrumentalists. Mr. Smith teaches music in the Evanston Public Schools and directs a children's choir of more than eighty voices. He has performed concerts extensively in the Chicago metropolitan area, Pittsburgh, and New England. |
