Fosters team work. 4. Provides a constructive activity and positive role models during formative years. 5. Sharpens the mind and develops learning skills -- singers learn to learn. 6. Good choral performance which evoke sincere public acclaim motivate children to excel; these moments bring joy and inspire the chorister to excel again and again -- in choir and elsewhere. 7. Choral performance enables each boy to discover the joy of serving others. 8. Skills learned in choir help each chorister in becoming successful in higher education and tomorrow's leaders and musicians within the Church and the community at large. 9. Music is itself a valuable life experience. It increases a child's human understanding, communicative ability, and creativity. Music enriches a child's whole life.
The Chicago Boy Choir promotes a positive working environment. It does not allow a permissive atmosphere. Rules are clearly stated and actively enforced. Our responsibility and the magnitude of the job before us is far too great to allow inefficient and irresponsible behavior. At the same time, our rules and projects are child-centered and our atmosphere is a very happy one. We believe that content and productive children are a result of thoughtful and positive discipline and training, rather than permissive lack of commitment.
